About Us

AfriCycle Renewable

AfriCycle Renewable is a visionary African-led initiative turning environmental challenges into engines of empowerment, sustainability, and innovation. We transform waste into clean energy, sunlight into sustainable power, and degraded land into thriving ecosystems. Our mission bridges global best practices with African realities regenerating value, restoring dignity, and renewing Africa’s future community by community, innovation by innovation. Through technology, education, and community empowerment, we turn waste into opportunity and drive Africa’s transition towards a circular, green economy.

Waste to energy, change in action

Wondering how recycling fuels clean energy and empowers communities? Explore our most common questions and discover how you can be part of the solution.

Through our innovative waste-to-energy microplants, we use pyrolysis technology to convert plastic waste into clean fuel and energy. The process heats plastic waste in an oxygen-free environment, breaking it down into synthetic gas and oil that can power generators or be refined into diesel fuel. This process not only eliminates plastic pollution but also provides sustainable energy for local communities, creating a circular economy where waste becomes a valuable resource.

Absolutely! Our projects create multiple types of local employment: waste collection and sorting jobs, technical operators for our microplants, maintenance and repair technicians, sales and distribution roles for the energy produced, and training facilitators for our green skills programs. We estimate that each waste-to-energy microplant creates 15-20 direct jobs and supports 40-50 indirect jobs in the local economy through our circular economy training hubs and sustainable entrepreneurship programs.

Our approach delivers multiple environmental benefits: we divert thousands of tons of plastic waste from landfills and oceans, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by providing clean energy alternatives to fossil fuels, improve air quality by eliminating open burning of waste, restore degraded land through our composting and reforestation programs, and conserve water through our rainwater harvesting and permeable surface projects. Each microplant prevents approximately 50 tons of CO2 emissions annually while processing 100+ tons of plastic waste.

There are many ways to join our movement! You can volunteer for our community programs and waste collection initiatives, participate in our green skills training workshops, donate to support our microplant installations, partner with us if you're an organization or business, invest in our sustainable projects, or simply spread awareness through your networks.
